Biophysical Bootcamp Field Course (S24)

Regular $250 (plus GST)
SALMTEC designed this course for participants to get their hands dirty, interact with multiple Subject Matter Experts, hone field skills, and benefit from cross-disciplinary learning. Course topics include:
- Grassland Vegetation Inventory (GVI) in the field,
- The Alberta Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool – Actual (ABWRET-A),
- Field characterization of soil and terrain, and
- Plant identification.
Course Format
- In-field training
- Small groups
- Four field stations
- Workbooks provided
Course Logistics
- A site logistics package will be provided
- Students are responsible for their own tranportation
- Students are responsible for bringing their own food
- A trailer will be available with a washroom and water
Learning Objectives
- Basics of plant identification, including wetland plants
- Interpret imagery in the field
- Interpret the landscape
- Classify site types in the field
- Songbird, raptor and mammal wetland function assessment using ABWRET-A
- Characterize soil profiles
