Throughout her career Amy has sought out opportunities to learn and through the process of passing on knowledge, benefit from the exponential learning that occurs during the teaching process. She has been involved in mentoring and education through initiatives such as the Alberta Society of Professional Biologist’s Introduction to Plant Identification course, volunteering with schools in Calgary, Alberta Native Plant Council plant study group presentations and most recently working to co-edit the long-awaited second edition of the Rare Vascular Plants of Alberta.

She has professional designations with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists and the BC College of Applied Biology. Amy is a skilled writer and senior reviewer. She enjoys opportunities to apply Quality Improvement Principals to environmental projects. Amy served as an expert environmental witness at an Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) hearing. Amy brings complimentary skills in film production where she has worked as an Executive Producer, Associate Producer and Casting Director among other roles.

As her bounteous collection of tattered field guides and hand lenses will tell you, she is a total biology nerd who loves going far into the weeds on the tiny details that make our species and ecosystems so unique.
